Italian Wine and Cheese

There are great things about a trip to Italy, but one of the highlights are the fantastic variety of foods and wines that you can sample. Many people venture into the country for this very purpose and even go food shopping, bringing back cheeses, wines and the best olive oils available. People will spend their time tasting Chianti and going to olive farms  or they will simply walk through markets filled with fresh vegetables, countless varieties of cheeses and stopping for for a cappuccino or a glass of Chianti on the way back to the their hotel.

People are crazy about wine and cheese tastings. Italian wine and cheese have a taste of their own. Italy provides all sorts of cheeses suitable for a cheese and wine pairing. You will need harder cheeses like Parmesan and this goes goes with  for a bolder wine, full in body, which is better  known as a Tanin. This wine should have aged a little. At a cheese and wine pairing  you will also need softer, creamier cheeses,  such as Buffalo Mozzarella, which is famous all over Italy.

At a cheese and wine tasting these days you will normally get Italian cheeses and sometimes Italian wines to go with it. A wine and cheese guide will most often consist of an assortment of Italian wines and cheeses. A special Italian wine and cheese pairing menu will consist of Italian cheeses and wines from different regions in Italy. They are paired according to the type of cheese and quite often the region. So for example Buffalo Mozzarella originally comes from Campania near Naples and there definitely would be wines in the area to pair it up with. Chianti is probably the most famous red wine in Italy and recognized worldwide and you would find cheeses in the area of Tuscany to sample.
