Unless you have a cruise-wise friend or family member it is very important to learn how to compare all inclusive cruises. In most cases, people thinking about taking a cruise vacation for the first time are overwhelmed by the fancy advertisements, amazing discounted fares and deciding which cruise options are best for them. The suggestions will help you wade through many cruising options available so that you can refine your online search and compare cruises that best fit your budget, cruise style, itineraries and schedule. It is best to do this research online before you make reservations. Not only will you be more satisfied with the results you will also save a tremendous amount of money and that’s part of the fun, right?
Compare Cruises by Category
Themes – Think of what cruising style best fits your taste. Most of the major cruise lines offer cruise packages that fit everyone’s lifestyle but there are some variations:
Family Oriented – Disney and Carnival are your best choices
Adults Only – Stick with the smaller boutique cruise lines such as Seabourn, P&O Cruise and Windstar. Also compare the type of adults only cruise. Is it oriented towards couple or party-til-you-drop singles?
Senior Citizens Cruises – Carnival is perfect for seniors, especially if this is your first cruise.
Adventure – Biking, backpacking, scuba diving for example.
On-shore tours – Choose Carnival, Celebrity, Princess, Oceania or Norwegian.
Educational – Without a doubt, Lindblad Expeditions, partnered with the National Geographic Foundation, offers an outstanding array of educational trips on small ships and research vessels.
All Inclusive – All inclusive cruises is one of the most over-promoted and misunderstood ripoffs in the cruise industry. Why? Because there is no such thing as an all inclusive cruise package. There will always be something the price doesn’t cover. Alcohol being included in the package price is the first that comes to mind. There may be free, unlimited drinks at the welcome reception or a few complimentary alcoholic beverages along the way but no major cruise line offers a package that includes unlimited consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Destinations – Again, if this is your first cruise then stick with the highest rated cruises lines such as Carnival and Disney for a wide variety of worldwide destinations.
Luxury – For my money, the best luxury cruises are provided by Seabourn but also consider Regent Seven Seas, Silversea and Crystal Cruises.
